We just got back from the dreamiest two-day getaway in South Walton, and honestly, we’re already planning our next trip. Located in Northwest Florida, this coastal gem is famous for its 26 miles of white-sand beaches, turquoise water, and charming beach neighborhoods that feel straight out of a postcard. It’s a quick flight from Houston, and once you’re there, it feels like you’ve escaped to another world—without the hassle of a long travel day.

This time of year is hands-down one of the best times to visit. The weather is perfect, the summer crowds are gone, and the beaches are absolutely stunning. Here’s how we spent 48 hours soaking up the best of South Walton:

Where We Stayed

We checked into the Hilton Sandestin, and it was everything you want in a beach resort—gorgeous pools, direct beach access, a relaxing spa, and an incredible breakfast buffet.

Where We Ate

We started our trip with a welcome toast at Bijoux in Sandestin. The next day, we visited Daytrader in Seaside for lunch. The tropical tiki vibes and creative menu from James Beard Semifinalist Chef Nikhil made it one of our favorite stops. For dessert, we couldn’t resist Nigel’s Bananas for their chocolate-dipped frozen treats. We also grabbed coffee from Amavida Coffee while in Seaside and capped the evening with dinner at Vue on 30A, which has unbeatable views of the ocean at sunset.

What We Did

We spent our first evening on a sunset dinner cruise aboard the Solaris with SunQuest Cruises—a total highlight. The next morning, we joined beachside yoga at the Hilton, followed by a little shopping and pickleball in Seaside. The rest of the trip was all about enjoying the sand, surf, and that perfect coastal calm.

Even with just 48 hours, South Walton completely won us over. Between the crystal-clear water, charming communities, and laid-back energy, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most loved beach destinations in the country. We can't wait to return and spend more time exploring this area!
