If you’re looking for a new spot to impress your brunch crew, Mayahuel in Autry Park should be at the top of your list. This modern Mexican restaurant brings a thoughtful, elevated twist to traditional flavors, and everything—from the food to the space—is done with serious intention.

We stopped by for brunch, and it instantly became one of our favorites in Houston. The space is beautifully designed, with subtle nods to Mexico City throughout. The color palette is earthy with subtle hints of green and plants throughout.

We also loved the open kitchen concept, which adds a layer of intimacy to the dining experience and lets you watch your meal come together in real time.

Now let’s talk food. You must start with the pastries! The croissants were flaky, buttery, and easily some of the best we’ve had in Houston. Every pastry is made fresh in-house each morning, and you can taste the difference.

But the real showstopper? The French toast. We’re not exaggerating when we say it was life-changing. Soft, custardy in the center, crisp on the edges, and perfectly balanced in sweetness— we could eat this every day.

The menu is seasonal, which means it’s always changing depending on what’s fresh. Everything is crafted with care and rooted in traditional Mexican flavors, but elevated to match the modern, upscale vibe.

Brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and it does fill up fast—so make sure to snag a reservation through mayahuelrestaurant.com before you go.

We also gave their dinner menu a try, and it was just as memorable. And pro tip: stick around after your meal to explore Autry Park. It’s the perfect area to walk off brunch and discover new spots!
