We recently took a quick weekend trip to Shreveport-Bossier, and while the casinos were a highlight, our hearts were on the food. Louisiana is known for its rich culinary traditions, and this twin-city destination delivers with seafood, soul food, cocktails, and surprises around every corner. This is one vacation where you’ll eat well every day!

We kicked things off at The Port inside Horseshoe Bossier City, a casual seafood joint with great beer, burgers, and some seriously good oysters. Their Rockefeller oysters were an instant favorite and absolutely essential for a true Louisiana experience. For breakfast, Rhino Coffee was a cozy gem. The vibe is relaxed, and their coffee cake is exactly what you need to start your day.

Dinner at William B’s Steakhouse inside Sam’s Town felt like a full experience. The prime steak and fresh seafood hit the mark, and the beignets for dessert were amazing—pillowy, hot, and the perfect end to dinner. Across the street, the R Bar at Live Casino is a chic little cocktail spot with solid drinks and a sleek interior if you're in the mood to sip something elevated.

One of the most memorable meals was at Ki Mexico, a lively taco spot with creative dishes and a colorful patio that often hosts live music. We wrapped things up at The Seventh Tap, a local brewery with a rotating selection of craft beers—and, surprisingly, some of the best beignets of the trip.

Beyond food, Shreveport-Bossier is packed with ways to unwind or turn up the energy. With six casinos, live horse racing at Louisiana Downs, resort stays like Margaritaville, and even a luxury spa experience at Spa Blu, it’s got all the elements of a full-on getaway—without the long travel time. Just four hours by car or an hour flight from Houston, this destination is easy to reach and hard to forget!
