CALLING ALL ASTROS FANS! One of our favorite restaurants for American eats and whiskey, Federal American Grill, recently opened their 5th location in Downtown! We love this new location because it’s super central to the city and makes it easy for us to pop by for their elevated bites and amazing cocktails.

The best part is, they’re just a short 15-minute walk from Minute Maid Stadium! Not to mention, they have happy hour specials one hour before and after each home game! They are also offering $20 valet which is really a steal for game day parking.

Not an Astros fan? No judgment! This is still a great spot if you're looking for a delicious classic American meal that's made-from-scratch.

Pro tip: you should definitely visit during their Social Hour to enjoy $7 wines, $5 beer, $6 wells, and $7 select cocktails. It happens Monday-Friday from 3:00-6:30 p.m.

Inside, you’ll see plenty of seating that includes chairs and booths covered with beautiful brown leather. They also have a plethora of TVs around the bar so you can watch the Astros game (or any other game you may like) from the restaurant!

Outside is a lovely patio that has great views of downtown and a lovely green space to hang out with the crew!

When we checked out the new location, we ordered a few different menu items to try. For appetizers, we had the Signature Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and Sticky Ribs. The ribs were a standout for us with their Kung Pao sauce that was a great mix of sweet and savory.

For the entrees, we tried their Cajun Chicken Sandwich, Janice’s Meatloaf, and Truffle Stuffed Chicken. We absolutely LOVED the chicken sandwich! It was topped with crispy onion strings that added such a nice crunch and the sriracha aioli was the perfect hit of spice to tie the whole dish together.

Alongside our meal, we enjoyed some of their wonderfully crafted cocktails: the Bourbon Peach Smash and Dirty Little Secret. Both were balanced and not too sweet.

What meal is complete without dessert? To finish our evening we ordered the Carrot Cake, Butter Cake, and Half Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie! Just look at that skillet cookie! It was the epitome of ooey gooey chocolatey goodness.
