There’s no better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a timeless classic, and the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker does not disappoint. Back on stage at the Wortham Theater Center, this beloved tradition has all the magic, wonder, and beauty that makes it a must-see.
From the moment the curtain rose, we were transported into Clara’s enchanting world. The stunning choreography, performed by the talented Houston Ballet’s ballerinas, brought every scene to life—from the festive Christmas party to the dazzling Land of Sweets. The sets were nothing short of spectacular, with each detail adding to the storybook charm of the performance. And then there’s the live orchestra, filling the theater with Tchaikovsky’s iconic score. It’s the kind of experience that gives you goosebumps and leaves you in awe.
The show’s highlights included Clara’s magical journey with the Nutcracker Prince, the elegance of the Snow Queen and her shimmering snowflakes, and, of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy’s mesmerizing performance. Every moment felt like a dream unfolding on stage, we definitely heard some gasps from the audience!
