Friendswood just got a seriously fun new addition to its dining scene with the opening of UJU Asian Gastropub, located near Baybrook Mall. Combining playful space-themed decor with bold Korean-inspired flavors, this spot brings a fresh, modern energy that’s hard not to love.

The menu is full of classic pocha-style comfort dishes—the kind you’d find at late-night spots in Seoul—but with an elevated twist. There’s L.A. Galbi, bubbling soups, and plenty of shareable bites like Corn Cheese that pair perfectly with a cold drink. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and attention to detail.

Our standout favorites were the Kimchi Pork Fried Rice (loaded with garlic and impossible to stop eating), the creamy Rose Tteokbokki with just the right amount of spice, and the Honey Soy Korean Fried Chicken that somehow stayed extra crispy until the very last bite. It’s the kind of meal that makes you want to order one of everything “just to try it.”

The space itself is sleek and energetic, filled with neon lighting and subtle nods to the cosmic theme. There’s even a private karaoke room that can seat up to 35 guests, complete with custom music options—perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or just a night out with friends.

Between the playful vibe, great food, and thoughtful details, UJU Asian Gastropub is exactly what Friendswood’s dining scene needed. Here’s hoping they bring that same energy inside the loop soon.
